There are many national areas and public lands throughout the United States of America. As you discover the differences between these areas, you will be able to determine what you may want to see, and when, depending on the ages and interest of your family.
The distinctions between these national areas are vast and surprising, especially since many are thought of under the blanket term “national park.” This particular term can be hard to understand, but it’s fun to dig a bit deeper and learn about what makes one area a “true” national park versus a national preserve or other designation.
